Day 8 – Thursday 22nd November

Destination – Puerto Williams, Navarino Island, Chile via Fjords
Today was the earliest I have woken up and I started work straight away. The sun was shining so Jerry and me decided to sort out the last of the boxes of food. We had to lower them down into the forepeak and then put them away under the floors of the forward cabin. This took most of the day.
We also collected all the flour from the boat next door and stored it under the boards.
Once everything was away, there were a couple more jobs to complete and then it was time to relax.
Jerry and I walked to the closest shop in town (about a 5-min walk) to stock up on a couple of things.
On the walk, we were almost savaged by a stray dog but luckily, Jerry scared him off.
We then went over to Iron Lady for dinner. They put on a lovely spread for us, which included couscous, fresh veg and a prawn dish.
Tonight there was a full moon, just over the volcano, which was stunning. We went back to the boat, watched some TV, whilst Simon and I played cards again and then went off to bed ready for the busy day tomorrow.

Destination – Puerto Williams, Navarino Island, Chile via Fjords
More prepping and getting ready. I had to chop up hundreds of mushrooms and then vac-pack them ready to be frozen, as well as packing all the mincemeat. I then had to find a spot to pack about 100 loo rolls.

Day 10 – Saturday 24th November

Destination – Puerto Williams, Navarino Island, Chile via Fjords
Today is Simon’s birthday so I baked some brownies. The first batch went terribly but still tasted good so they went quickly. I baked a second batch, which turned out great. I also made another loaf of bread for the crew.
Today is sunny and I managed to find some time to just sit on the foredeck.
We went out for dinner at the local seafood restaurant, which was lovely. We got a taxi to a local party. It was about 5-miles out of town and when we got there, it looked like an abandoned house, with no power, so we told the taxi driver to turn around and find somewhere else.
We ended up at an Irish club/bar and had some drinks there. Eventually we made it home about 1.

Day 11 – Sunday 25th November
Location – Lat: 41º 29’ 37’’ S Long: 72º 59’ 40’’ W – Oxxean Marina, Puerto Montt, Chile
Destination – Puerto Williams, Navarino Island, Chile via Fjords
We all woke up feeling a bit sorry for ourselves, but had the last few bits to do before departing at 10:00.
The pilot arrived about 9:50 and with all engines running we were finally ready to leave. About 9:58 Evie put a load of washing on to find the washing machine was leaking water into the bilge. The washing machine had broken and ripped up Matt’s favourite pair of socks. We turned the engines off, the pilot left and we had to postpone.
We took the machine apart and decided the repair would not be reliable enough so went back to the shop to get a new washing machine. We spent a good few hours taking the aft panels off the boat so we could take the washing machine out, which was a mission.
At about 3:00 they returned with a new washing machine. The guys fitted the new washing machine, which took them late into the evening.
I promptly fell asleep on the sofa about 8:00 whilst watching a film.

Day 12 – Monday 26th November
Location – Lat: 41º 29’ 37’’ S Long: 72º 59’ 40’’ W – Oxxean Marina, Puerto Montt, Chile
Destination – Puerto Williams, Navarino Island, Chile via Fjords
I woke up around 4am still on the sofa and went back to bed in my cabin.
Some of the guys made another run to the shop to get some coffee and the others went to go get some charts printed.
I stayed and made some bread and prepped for lunch. The pilot is arriving at 12:00 today, so fingers crossed we won’t have any more broken washing machines!
